Guiding and inspiring caregivers and educators of young children

Kia Ora. Lovely to meet you…

I am an infant and toddler specialist working with families and professionals towards lives that embody peace, respect and simplicity. With relationships at the heart of my approach, I am guided by the work of Dr Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerber’s Educaring® Approach. It is my passion to inspire and empower caregivers and educators of young children with these principles and practices.

My mission is to help adults to see the child in a new way and develop deeply respectful, reciprocal and authentic relationships. Through this understanding, adults will experience the joy that will come from this way of being with children.

Offering knowledge and experience from 12 years of working with children, families and professionals, I am a fully qualified, (B.Ed (Tchng) ECE) registered early childhood teacher.

I work from a holistic, inclusive approach that embraces individual needs, settings and requirements. I care deeply about every person that I connect with, giving you a personal, meaningful learning experience.

Testimonials

Helen has taught us so much about child development both physically and emotionally. There is so much more going on in a baby and toddlers world than we give them credit for.

We are eternally grateful for Helen’s role in our child’s life at such a crucial stage.

We have learned so much and have nurtured and used Helen’s advice and have seen the rewards.

It is rare in this world to find someone with such passion and genuine love and for children who truely understands the ‘mind of a baby/toddler’.

Testimonials

As a brand new Mum, I found it pretty overwhelming having this new baby in the house!

I didn’t have much knowledge or experience in how to care for a child, particularly when it came to their sleep. In the maternity unit, they assisted me with breastfeeding and how to bathe a baby, but they offered little advice on sleep!

Helen Armstrong taught me how to create a healthy sleeping environment for my son, which avoided letting him ‘cry it out’ or developing a deep dependence on me to fall asleep all the time.

She was always highly aware, open-minded and respectful as she helped me, which created a safe and calm place for all of us. As my son got older and more active, she helped me to create an environment that was natural and respectful of his own unique development.

Helen possesses a comprehensive knowledge of recent research, and uses that, as well as her knowledge of you, to help you create a healthy and happy home for your family.

Testimonials

Helen you are so talented! The amount of knowledge you have is amazing and I love how respectful you are towards babies.

Was so nice coming along with the girls and refreshing my memory of what I can be doing with them at home (now that I’m a mum I tend to forget what I used to do as an ECE teacher), so now I’m very inspired and have already been to Trade Aid searching for resources.

The girls had the best night sleep they have had in a long time after your class too! Thanks again, Billie and Harper can’t wait to come back.

Authentic leadership in the adult and child relationship is something that I think is probably the most difficult balance to establish. I so often come across adults who battle with the finding the sweet spot between being passive and therefore allowing the child to...

Stop yelling! What to do instead…

Stop yelling. It doesn't work anyway. Peace + kindness + love will always, always win. It's our human nature by design. If we want to see a world filled with those things, we have to BECOME those things ourselves. Our children are not going to change the future story...
